The Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Week (HNPW) will be held for its fourth consecutive year at the International Conference Centre (CICG) in Geneva, Switzerland from 5 to 9 February 2018.  HNPW is the annual event of the Leading Edge Programme, a year-round collaborative platform that brings together experts in crisis preparedness and response from a diversity of countries and organizations to identify and discuss solutions to humanitarian challenges. Participants to the event include representatives from Member States, UN agencies, NGOs, civil protection, the private sector or academia, amongst others.

The event will host the annual meetings and consultations of over 30 networks and partnerships on Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday. As in previous editions, the Inter-Network Day, a full-day event open to all, will take place on Wednesday, 7 February.

Inter-Network Day

The 2018 Inter-Network Day will aim at fostering cross-network collaboration in humanitarian preparedness and response. To facilitate this exchange, participants will have diverse opportunities to engage.  In mixed teams of experts from different networks and partnerships, they will attend a “marketplace” of thematic stations, where topics, ideas, projects and concepts will be discussed to foster better collaboration.

During this full-day journey, participants will learn from experts about relevant cross-cutting topics in humanitarian action, share expertise and experience, solve specific challenges in humanitarian action and network with other professionals.

Participants will also have the opportunity to visit the exhibition area throughout the day to obtain information on Humanitarian Standards, Civil Protection, the Private Sector in Humanitarian Action and Information Management Tools, amongst others. Another opportunity to network and exchange knowledge and expertise will be the Speed Networking events which will take place throughout the day.

The Inter-Network Day offers a unique opportunity for participants with different expertise to work together to identify practical solutions to common challenges. The event will offer a space for participants from all Networks and Partnerships to get out of their comfort zone and explore areas for cross-network collaboration.

The aim of this interactive day is to further accelerate the on-going work of the Leading Edge Programme, a year-round collaborative platform to overcome challenges in humanitarian action. The Leading Edge Programme Core Support Group will meet in parallel to the Inter-Network Day activities and will present the results of their discussions and their recommendations on the way forward at the closing ceremony.
