The UN Environment/OCHA Joint Unit (JEU) recently launched the upgraded version of the Environmental Emergencies Centre (EEC) website. The EEC serves as a one-stop-shop, consolidating and building upon existing capacity-development services for preventing, preparing and responding to environmental emergencies. It contains an ever-growing database of resources and showcases the JEU’s partnerships and networks that actively contribute to advocacy and policy development ensuring an effective response to environmental emergencies. It further contains all essential information on the 2017 Environment and Emergencies Forum, a biennial event organised by the JEU. A Moodle platform, hosting the EEC’s five online learning courses, now offers users the opportunity to engage with other users via a Discussion Forum, and contains an important collection of guidelines, policies and resources related to the trainings. The majority of the courses are available in English, French and Spanish, and few are available in Russian, Arabic and Chinese as well.
Also available on the EEC
- The 2nd edition of the Environmental Emergencies Guidelines in English, French and Spanish with the Russian version forthcoming.
- The Flash Environmental Assessment Tool 2.0 pocket guide in English, Spanish and Russian with the French version forthcoming.
