The sixty-first session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) took place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 13 to 24 March 2017. Member States, UN entities, and ECOSOC-accredited NGOs from all regions of the world were represented at the week-long series of meetings and events. The GenCap project supported two briefings; one hosted by Norway and the other by Canada and Tunisia, which was opened by the recently appointment Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs, Ursula Mueller. In the briefings, GenCap Advisers, Devanna de la Puente and Anabel Carrera highlighted their engagement with Humanitarian Country Teams, Cluster leads and local partners to advance gender equality programming in Colombia and the Central African Republic, respectively. Complementing the country-level presentations, Merrin Waterhouse briefed on the updated IASC Gender and Age Marker, which is planned for application for the 2018 humanitarian programme cycle.
