During the first ever World Humanitarian Summit organized in Turkey on 23-24 May, the INSARAG Secretariat, jointly with the World Health Organisation’s Emergency Medical Teams (EMT) Section, organised a side event on “Quality Standards in International Response”. This event drew on the experience of the two networks that have demonstrated the value of approaching disaster response in this manner – INSARAG for urban search and rescue and EMTs for medical. The side event was an opportunity to share the globally accepted standard-setting models and encourage commitments from Member States and humanitarian responders to adopt the INSARAG Guidelines and the EMT Guidelines.
