OCHA’s Emergency Services Branch (ESB) continuous delivering residential training courses under the Preparedness and Response Effectiveness Programme (PREP). This time, 24 participants from OCHA and partner organizations were trained. “Those who operate together must have the opportunity to learn together” remains the leitmotiv of the training programme, cutting across all thematic areas of effective response operations. The content is based on the Humanitarian Programme Cycle (HPC) and covers coordination, information management, surge deployments, gender, cash programming, environmental aspects, protection, access and humanitarian civil-military coordination. The ZIF, the German Center for International Peace Operations, co-sponsored and hosted the training course from 21 to 26 August in Berlin. Representatives of the German Federal Foreign Office attended some sessions and were extremely pleased with the methodology OCHA uses in its training programme.
