The Emergency Services Branch, in partnership with the Center for Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance (CFE-DMHA), United States Pacific Command (US PACOM) and the Malaysian Peacekeeping Centre (MPC), conducted ‘Supporting Humanitarian Action in Responding to Emergencies and Disasters’ (SHARED) Course and Training of Trainers (ToT) for the Asia-Pacific region peacekeeping training centres (PKTCs) from 22 to 30 June 2016 in Port Dickson, Malaysia. The course brought together 23 experienced peacekeepers and trainers from Malaysia, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Indonesia and Vietnam. The combined courses aim to build capacity within priority PKTCs/Troop Contributing Countries (TCCs) to facilitate SHARED Courses to deploying contingent commanders, UN-CIMIC Officers and other key officers and staff. The SHARED course prepares military actors to effectively interact with the humanitarian community and organizations.
