Urban Search and Rescue Coordination Cell Workshop

From 15 to 19 February, the Field Coordination Support Section (FCSS) of the Emergency Services Branch as the INSARAG Secretariat, facilitated the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Coordination Cell (UCC) Trainers Workshop, hosted by the United Kingdom at the Fire Service College in the county of Gloucestershire. 20 participants from 15 countries attended the workshop. This course was developed to prepare a cadre of experienced trainers to facilitate the UCC Operations Training of Trainers Courses for INSARAG teams in 2016, based on the key aspects of USAR coordination and INSARAG and OSOCC guidelines. In the sudden onset of disasters i.e. earthquakes, the UCC forms an integral coordination mechanism with the OSOCC, supported by International USAR teams.
