On the request of the OCHA Country Office and the Humanitarian Coordinator, CMCS conducted a Humanitarian Civil-Military Coordination (CMCoord) Assessment Mission to Chad from 1 to 11 March 2016. Humanitarian and military actors are scaling up in the Lac Region, where non-state armed groups are operating, and there is an increasing need for CMCoord. The mission included the facilitation of CMCoord workshops in the capital, N’Djamena, and Baga Sola in the Lac Region. The workshops were attended by humanitarians, military and government actors, and addressed key operational matters, such as the use of armed escorts by humanitarians. The mission resulted in the establishment of CMCoord structures in-country and increased the understanding of CMCoord for the counterparts.
