UNDAC and INSARAG awareness training in Iran

Thirty-three national emergency responders participated in an UNDAC and INSARAG awareness training in Tehran, Iran from 15 to 19 November.

The course provided a good opportunity for fruitful discussions in view of strengthening emergency response structures, including in the event of request for international assistance, particularly around earthquakes which is Iran’s main natural disaster risk. Representatives at the course expressed interest in the possibilities of Iran joining the UNDAC and INSARAG networks. ESB will follow up with the National Disaster Management Organization and the Tehran Disaster Mitigation and Management Organisation to identify INSARAG Focal Points for operational coordination in case of an emergency.
