At the request of the Government of Paraguay, through the UN Resident Coordinator, FCSS has deployed a 12-person United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC) Team, to the country to evaluate the national emergency preparedness and response capacity.
The IFRC Disaster Law Programme is part of the mission to focus on the state of legal preparedness in Paraguay. The duration of the mission is for two weeks, from 5 October until Friday 16 October 2015. The assessment methodology included a review and assessment of secondary information and key documents before the actual onsite mission and is currently in the stage of onsite assessment through interviews with key actors of the emergency management system, field visits to hazard prone areas of the country, visits to physical infrastructures and an analysis process that will include the country team and partners from regionally based agencies.
