Joint UNDAC/CDEMA deployment in Bahamas affected by severe hurricane
A 3-person OCHA/UNDAC team has been deployed on 5 October to Bahamas which was severely affected by Category 4 Hurricane Joaquin from 1 to 3 October.
This OCHA/UNDAC team supports the regional assessment team led by Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) n support of the Bahamas National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
The mission focuses on rapid needs assessment of the three most affected islands: Long Island, Crooked Island and Acklins Island. Their mandate is to assist NEMA in articulating requirements for national and external assistance, once the humanitarian needs are identified.
